Solving surgical smoke problems
Ultravision controls surgical smoke at the point of origin, delivering bioaerosol control, advanced visualization, stable pneumoperitoneum in standard and low-pressure surgery, and fewer workflow disruptions caused by smoke.
- Smoke management
- Enhanced visualization
- Stable pneumoperitoneum
- Workflow optimization
Mode of action: electrostatic precipitation
Ultravision emits negative gas ions, which move towards the positively charged patient tissue and collide with smoke particles. The charged particles are electrostatically attracted to the tissue, land there, and the charge flows back to the generator. Smoke is eliminated without venting or extraction, with no tubing and silent operation.
- Negative ions charge the smoke particles
- Particles are drawn onto patient tissue
- No venting, no extraction, no tubing
- Silent in operation
Integrated instruments for laparoscopy, robotics and open surgery
The Ultravision2 generator works with integrated instrument and trocar options: the Ionwand, the Ultravision 5 mm trocar, the integrated monopolar L-hook and, for open surgery, the IonPencil. The IonPencil suppresses smoke at the source with a slimline, lightweight handle, no tubing and an unshrouded electrode tip for excellent operative site access, avoiding the bulk of conventional smoke pencils.

Performance data
In independent tests Ultravision delivered surgeon visualization scores of Excellent or Good in 80% of cases, compared with 20% when venting. After 60 seconds it removes 99.9% of particles from the atmosphere versus 30.2% with a smoke evacuator, and it suppresses 99% of particulates down to 0.007 microns. In simulated surgery it was 23 times more effective than continuous smoke evacuation at reducing smoke escaping into the OR through accidental leaks.
- Visualization Excellent or Good: 80% vs 20% with venting
- 99.9% particle removal at 60 s vs 30.2%
- 99% of particulates suppressed down to 0.007 µm
- 23x less smoke escaping into the OR
A more efficient, CO2-sparing OR
In laparoscopic cholecystectomy, Ultravision saved 8 minutes per case, with zero pauses in 77% of procedures and no camera cleaning required in 95% of cases. It provides stable pneumoperitoneum and enables low-pressure surgery, reduces CO2 use and the patient's exposure to cold, dry, acidic gas. It needs 15x less electricity than a smoke evacuator and has no disposable filters or tubing.
