The advantages of thinking small
The JustRight stapler uses classic B-shaped staples and is intended for abdominal, gynecologic, pediatric and thoracic surgery for resection, transection and creation of anastomosis.
- Fits through a 5 mm trocar
- 25 mm staple line, 2.0 mm staple leg
- 20 cm shaft, 5 mm diameter
Access, port placement and visualization
The 5 mm shaft can get into tighter spaces than 12 mm staplers and provides flexibility in stapler placement, allowing optimal approaches to the surgical site. The 5 mm jaw takes up less of the visible field in the scope than larger stapling devices, allowing better visualization of the surgical field.
- Access: tighter spaces than 12 mm staplers
- Options for port placement
- Better visualization of the surgical field
A secure staple line
The classic B formation of 2.0 mm titanium staples, in 4 rows of 6 staggered staples, provides a secure staple line. For the 2.0 mm staples, tissue should compress comfortably to between 0.75 mm and 1.0 mm.
- 2.0 mm titanium staples
- 4 rows of 6 staggered staples
- Tissue thickness 0.75 to 1.0 mm
Patient benefits of a 5 mm incision
Compared with a 12 mm incision, patients may experience minimal post-op pain, minimal scarring, minimal risk of port site herniation, faster recovery and decreased potential for surgical site infection. In a published case study of laparoscopic cholecystectomy with a dilated cystic duct, the stapler was fired through the 5 mm subxiphoid port with optimal hemostasis at the staple line and no complications, without upsizing a port to 12 mm.
- Minimal post-op pain and scarring
- Minimal risk of port site herniation
- Faster recovery times
- Case study: dilated cystic duct stapled through a 5 mm port
Simple, step-by-step use
The procedure card summarizes the workflow: insert into the cannula, open the jaws, position the tissue and clamp, then hold for 10 seconds to allow full compression. Release the safety lock, fire the staple line, release the jaws and unload the reload.
- Insert into cannula, open jaws
- Clamp and hold 10 seconds
- Release safety, fire
- Release jaws, unload reload
